The Department of Agriculture Western Visayas(DA-WV) and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) formally opened the 2020 Dinagyang Fiesta Fair with the theme, “ASPIRE, Western Visayas! Level Up, Iloilo!” at SM City activity center on Jan. 20, 2020.

DA-WV regional executive director Remelyn R. Recoter said “We encourage all the entrepreneurs and investors especially in the agri-sector to participate in this yearly activity, a perfect venue to promote the various products of Western Visayas, and be known throughout the region and the world by our foreign visitors this Dinagyang festival.”

Recoter added, “It is time to tap the young entrepreneurs especially graduates of agriculture and fishery courses, to start an enterprise through the help of DA loan programs. A starting capital of at least P500,000.00 can be loaned from DA Agricultural Credit and Policy Council (ACPC) through the accredited lending conduits. This financing window is open to young agripreneurs ages 18 to 30 years old.”

“Also a loanable amount of up to P15M will be available for aspiring agripreneurs through the DA-ACPC micro-small agribusiness loan programs for the micro-small entrepreneurs,” she mentioned.

Meanwhile, to fully develop a product and make it competitive in the market the DA also provides training and seminars for product enhancement, marketing, pricing and productivity through DA-Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD).

With this, the DA-AMAD will hold a training on packaging, labeling and investment forums for the exhibitors and potential agripreneurs from Jan. 21-26 at SM City activity center.

The DA-WV, PCCI-Iloilo, Department of Tourism (DOT), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the City and Provincial government of Iloilo go hand in hand in promoting WV products at the 2020 Dinangyang trade fair.
