Gearing towards improved farmers’ competitiveness and productivity, the Department of Agriculture (DA) Regional Field Office 6 has launched today its five-year Corporate Plan.
“For the past years, we have been planning and implementing projects for our beneficiaries, but we have not delved on how we will be able to strengthen and capacitate our own people and improve our facilities, assets, and our services for our farmers,” said DA 6 Regional Executive Director Remelyn R. Recoter.
In realizing this corporate plan, the DA Western Visayas underwent a series of planning processes which kicked off with a stakeholder’s forum held on September 2017, followed by writeshops and communication planning.
“During the stakeholders’ forum, we were able to increase their awareness of their roles and contributions in strengthening the agency. Likewise, we were informed of their needs and their impressions of DA Western Visayas. The results will serve as our basis as to how we will improve our services,” explained Recoter.
As part of the Corporate Plan, the DA Regional Field Office 6 organized the logo design and hymn making contests this year which were champed by Faye Ann Gasapo of DA-Philippine Rural Development Project Visayas, and Dante Beriong of San Jose, Antique with his composition “Kadalag-an Sang Agrikultura.”
The distinctively created logo and hymn reflect the DA Western Visayas’ vision – ‘Service excellence to ensure food security for all, and mission—DA Western Visayas is committed to providing innovative support services with its state of the art facilities for sustainable, competitive and resilient agricultural industries.’
“We will gear towards collaborations and we will support and adhere to the national government policy directions for the betterment of the agri-fishery sector here in Western Visayas. We aim to uphold our slogan ‘We serve what farmers deserve,” Recoter added.
On the other hand, the DA’s core values—DA Western Visayas CARES! We Value—exemplified that this agency will continuously uphold commitment, accountability, responsiveness, excellence, and solidarity.
“The Launching of the DA-Western Visayas Corporate Plan 2019-2023 is about its Journey to the Future. This will serve as a guide and masterplan for the next five years wherein it can help fortify and improve the production, capability, and profitability of the agricultural sector in Western Visayas. Moreover, it can guarantee to improve the quality of services and harmonized initiatives,” said Atty. Hansel O. Didulo, the DA’s Assistant Secretary for Regulations and the Visayas.
Didulo, Recoter, and the two regional technical directors Manuel Olanday and Dr. Peter Sobrevega led the unveiling of the corporate plan in a program held at Eon Centennial Hotel, Jaro, Iloilo City.
“We shall embody the spirit of discipline and commitment towards our public service and at the same time take care of our linkages with other national agencies, local government units, and private organizations. They are all our partners in development,” Olanday encouraged.
Meanwhile, Sobrevega urged employees from the rank and file to the management level, to fulfill their respective roles and responsibilities in acting out DA’s Corporate Plans beginning next year.
Regional Agriculture and Fishery Council 6 chairman Ricardo Provido Jr, LEMMCAP president Enrique Escares, and P4MP Regional President Ereberto Jucaban provided their impressions and lauded the agency’s corporate plan.
