ESKWELAHAN SA KAHANGINAN PRODUCES PROMISING HYBRID RICE FARMERS IN NEGROS
A total of 286 farmer-students completed the School-on-the Air (SOA) on Hybrid Rice Production and Rice Crop Manager (RCM) which encouraged more farmers in the province of Negros Occidental to adopt modern technologies in rice farming.
Among the 17 top performing students who religiously listened to the lectures and quizzes given by the speakers, Lora Biñas, a Catechist from EB Magalona emerged as the most outstanding graduate.
Biñas shared that despite the hardship of rising in the early hours to take note of the lectures, it has given her the inspiration to pursue because of the useful information and knowledge particularly on the use of high quality seeds to enhance her rice production, RCM, palay check and pest and diseases management topics. These has provided her with specific information to solve on-farm problems with practical solutions. She also added that her perseverance to find means to answer test questions expanded her understanding through exchange of ideas among other farmers in her community.

P150M AGRI LOAN FOR ANTIQUE THIS 2018 – LEGARDA
Senate Committee Chairperson on Finance Loren L. Legarda said yesterday that the Department of Agriculture (DA) will grant an additional P150 million worth of easy access financing to farmers and fisherfolk of Antique this year.
Legarda added that P30 million loan fund under the Production Loan Easy Access (PLEA) Program of DA-Agricultural Credit Policy Council were already turned over to the towns of San Jose, Hamtic, Sibalom and Patnongon.

DA-6 ORGANIZE WESTERN VISAYAS MUSHROOM FARMERS ASSOCIATION
To address market competitiveness, stable supply, fair pricing and promote mushroom consumption, the Department of Agriculture 6 organized the Western Visayas Mushroom Farmers Association (WVMFA).
Director Remelyn Recoter of DA-RFO 6 said that with the organization of the WVMFA, the department will be able to know their concerns and a line priority interventions for them.

VISAYAS CLUSTER’S LARGEST ENTERPRISE KICKS OFF SOON
Members of the La Castellana I Personnel Multi-Purpose Cooperative (LC I PMPC) heaved a sigh of relief after the World Bank gave the go signal for their P37.6-million-worth Negros Swine Integrated Enterprise subproject.
“The issuance of the No Objection Letter 1 (NOL 1) gave us a sense of assurance and relief that the [sub]project will be finally implemented. This will not only benefit us but also the cluster members,” said Judith B. Obordo, LC I PMPC chairperson. “We will try to comply with all the revisions and requirements needed based on the comments of the World Bank.”

PANAY DAIRY FARMERS CONVENE TO STRENGTHEN THE INDUSTRY
Aiming to keep up with the global demand for milk products, Agriculture secretary Manny Piñol integrates buffalo, goat and cattle in the new National Dairy Roadmap. He also encouraged private sector participation in the program.
In support to that, the Philippine Carabao Center (PCC) ties up with the Department of Agriculture (DA) Regional Field Office 6 and Agricultural Training Institute 6 to hold a five-month long School On the Air (SOA) on Dairy Buffalo Production next year.

ILOILO ASSOCIATION WINS IN THE FIRST CORNUCOPIA AWARDS
The San Dionisio Multi-Sectoral Integrated Association (SDMSIA) landed 3rd place in the 1st Cornucopia Awards during the 13th National Corn Congress in Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Nov. 23.
The DA Cornucopia Awards seeks to recognize the ingenuity and resourcefulness of corn and cassava farmer organizations which promote and develop the production of value-added products. SDMSIA President Purificacion Benedicto received the Php 1 million cash prize and a plaque from the national corn program in recognition for the implementation of value-adding activities thereby producing export quality processed products from corn and cassava.
